Loudon Wainwright III : Older Than My Old Man Now.
As his new album's title relates, Loudon Wainwright III is Older Than My Old Man Now -- his old man, of course, being the late Loudon Wainwright, Jr., the esteemed Life Magazine columnist and senior editor. "Singer-songwriter contemporaries of mine have recently taken to writing memoirs and autobiographies," notes Wainwright. "I decided I would try to tell the story of my swinging life in a three and one-half minute song." He's speaking specifically of the album's lead track "The Here & the Now," which features jazz guitar great John ...
Cowboy Junkies : The Nomad Series Box Set
In 2011 the Cowboy Junkies embarked on their most ambitious project yet, to write and record 4 albums in 18 months. It was called The Nomad Series. Each album had its own individual style and feel. The first instalment, ‘Renmin Park’ was influenced by Michael Timmins’ trip to China with his family. Volume 2, ‘Demons’ was an album of Vic Chesnutt cover versions and a tribute to their late friend. ‘Sing In My Meadow’ was a louder, more guitar heavy album and the fourth and last in the series, ‘The Wilderness’ was a group of songs that ...

Gretchen Peters : Hello Cruel World
The title of Gretchen Peters’ new Hello Cruel World is a pun on the famed exit line — a joke that, like the lovely melodies and deliciously textured arrangements framing these 11 songs — sweetens this captivating music spun from a year of turmoil. The Grammy nominated singer-songwriter from Nashville calls Hello Cruel World her “most close-to-the-bone work, written at a time when I felt absolutely fearless about telling the truth.” Peters and her guest Rodney Crowell sing, “life is still a beautiful disaster,” on “Dark Angel.” But Peters keeps the accent on the “beautiful” throughout her ninth disc, with ...
The Webb Sisters : Savages
"Savages sees The Webb Sisters weld together a delightful mixture of folk and pop to create a bewitching album full of pretty harmonies, infectious melodies and evocative vocal hooks. Right from the opening Baroque Thoughts, Charley and Hattie weave a magical spell, their voices blend effortlessly over a backing of plucked acoustic guitar and harp. From there we’re taken on a glorious journey of contagious pop tinged folky numbers and the occasional upbeat rocker." - Rhythm & Booze Born into a family of musicians in Kent, England, Charley and Hattie are The Webb Sisters..... Their singing and playing (harp, guitar, mandolin and ...

Carrie Rodriguez coming soon on Diverse.
We’ve loved Carrie Rodriguez for a while now, we went to see her in Texas at SxSW last year and started the ball rolling on getting this album on the label. The album in question is ‘Love and Circumstance’, an album of cover versions that show off Carrie’s influences and musical range.
